"2- GLOVE” CHALLENGE
A slight cold weather variant of a standard Texas net member/member alternate shot partner modified Ashtabula scramble. The goal is to have the front nine, the turn, and the back nine each take about an hour. A few salient points below:
1. Teams will be given 36 yellow range balls, carts, and flasks of brown.
2. Players tee off with aforementioned yellow range balls. Choose your scramble tee shot. No need to search for the unused tee shot.
3. Once you’ve identified your choice of tee shots the driver of the golf ball gets a free swing with the putter. This stroke does not count against your score. Choose your putter wisely.
4. From there it's standard alternate shot, with one player whacking away and the other huddled in their aforementioned cart tending to their aforementioned flask.
5. Importantly, and we feel we’d be remiss for not mentioning it, but all teams will start at the same time on the 1st tee. After 3 holes the team with the highest GROSS score will be remanded to the clubhouse to begin preparations for the turn. Every 3 holes we will lose the team with the highest total GROSS score thus far. Ties don’t go to anyone, both teams are remanded to the clubhouse.
6. Eventually only one team will be left on the course and will be crowned the annual “2-Glove” Champion.
7. The winning team will hold for the year and have exclusive use of, in the next challenge, (2x) Mr. Heater (Model #MH4GC) 4000 BTU Golf Cart Heaters.
The inaugural 2019 "2-Glove" Challenge was canceled due to inclement weather. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th annual, and 5th “2-Glove” Challenges were canceled due to inclement weather. The 6th annual “2-Glove” Challenge will be held at Marine Park Golf Course, Saturday, February 17th, 2024.
